Glass Pearl Bead Necklace - Purple

A pretty project for a

necklace,

vary the colours to suit any outfit

Finished length is approx. 42cm (16.5")

What will you need?

  • 1 set of Trimits 6mm glass pearl beads
  • 1 set of Trimits 8mm glass pearl beads
  • 1 clasp
  • 4 jump rings
  • 2 packs of 12 50mm jewellery head pins
  • Round-nosed jewellery pliers

The sets of beads contain 3 shades which I have referred to as light , medium & dark.

  • Take one of the head pins, cut the flat head off and make a small loop at the end
  • Thread a 6mm medium pearl bead onto the head pin
  • Cut off the excess wire leaving approx. 7mm

Don't discard any pieces of wire you cut off as they a long enough to use at a later stage.

  • Make another loop using the pliers

The more wire you leave the bigger your loop will be

After you've done this a few times you will be able to judge it by eye instead of measuring.

You need the wire loops to be as even as possible so that the end product is more attractive

  • Take another head pin and thread an 8mm dark pearl onto it

  • Then thread the medium 6mm pearl onto the head pin

  • Now thread a 6mm dark pearl onto the same head pin
  • Cut off any excess wire leaving enough for a loop
  • Make a loop in the end to secure the beads

  • Take another head pin and thread a medium 6mm pearl onto it

  • Push this head pin through the loop you made on the end of the other beads.

If you put the beads in the same position as in the picture you need to push the head pin through from the left and down

  • Add a medium 8mm pearl to the same head pin
  • Cut off any excess wire leaving enough for a loop
  • Make a loop in the end to secure the beads
  • Then, as before, take a head pin add a dark 8mm pearl
  • Pass the head pin through the loop on the other beads
  • And add a dark 6mm pearl
  • Cut off any excess wire leaving enough for a loop
  • Make a loop in the end to secure the beads
  • Then, again, take a head pin add a medium 6mm pearl
  • Thread the head pin through the loop on the other beads
  • And add a medium 8mm pearl
  • Cut off any excess wire, as before, and make a loop in the end to secure the beads

Carry on repeating this process alternating the colours and forming a zigzag pattern as you go.

Stop when you have a row of 6 dark 8mm pearls across the bottom.

  • When you come to the last set of dark pearls, instead of adding a dark 6mm pearl on the top, add a medium 6mm pearl so you finish with the same colour as you started
  • Make a loop in the usual way
You should now have the completed centre section of your necklace measuring approx. 8.5cm (3.25") long
  • Take a piece a wire that you've cut off and make a loop in the end
  • thread a medium 6mm pearl onto it
  • and make a loop at the other end hooking it onto the end of your necklace before closing
  • Repeat this process with another medium 6mm pearl and join it to the end
  • Do the same with a light 6mm pearl
  • Followed by a light 8mm pearl
  • And then a light 6mm pearl

  • And the same with a dark 6mm pearl
  • Followed by a dark 8mm pearl
  • And then a dark 6mm pearl
  • Do the same again with the light pearls - 6mm, 8mm, then 6mm
  • Then add 1 dark 6mm pearl
  • And 2 light 6mm pearls

Repeat the whole process for the other side of your necklace.

There will be a few spare beads which you could use to extend the length of the necklace if you wish.

  • Now attach one piece of the clasp to one end
  • And the second piece to the other end of your necklace

That's the necklace finished
